From local translation office to leader in German-speaking Europe

Apostroph Switzerland

1994 Apostroph was founded by Dr Elisabeth Stofer and Wolfgang Krebs in Lucerne. Even at this early stage, the “young child” was already fluent in 27 languages.

1996 The translation office became the second Swiss company in the industry to receive the SQS ISO 9001 certificate.

Expansion thanks to new management

2010 Apostroph was taken over by private investors. Philipp Meier became the new CEO and he remains at the helm of the company to this day.

2013 With the acquisitions of Rolf Lüthi Übersetzungen AG in Bern, TraDoc SA in Lutry and allingua Übersetzungen AG in Zurich, Apostroph was able to boast three new sites in Switzerland.

2014 In an asset deal, Transdoc SA was integrated into the language service provider.

2017 Wieners+Wieners GmbH from Ahrensburg, Germany, took over Apostroph in March. The Apostroph brand was retained as a strategic brand in the German-speaking area. In October, Apostroph Switzerland acquired Transcript Übersetzungen AG in Zurich.

2020 The customer portfolio of USG AG in Bern was acquired by Apostroph as was Global Translations GmbH in Sutz-Lattrigen.

2021 Philipp Meier became CEO of Apostroph Group. Apostroph Group consists of the brands Apostroph Switzerland, Apostroph Germany, Wieners+Wieners and medDOC.

2022 Apostroph Switzerland acquires Marco Gehring Communications SA in Ticino.

Synergies are used: Wieners+Wieners GmbH and Apostroph Group join forces

1990 Wieners+Wieners GmbH was founded in Ahrensburg, near Hamburg, Germany.

2017 Wieners+Wieners GmbH merged with Apostroph Group, making it the leader in the DACH region.

2018 Strengthening of the north German location through the acquisition of Bremen-based López-Ebri Fachübersetzungen GmbH with the specialist brand medDOC.

2019 Acquisition of the Munich-based agency Burton, Van Iersel & Whitney to establish a greater presence in southern Germany.

2020 López-Ebri and Burton, Van Iersel & Whitney merged and now operate under the name Wieners+Wieners.

2021 Further market penetration through the launch of the Apostroph Germany brand.

2022 Change of name from Wieners and Wieners to Apostroph Germany.

2023 Vladimir Schafir becomes managing director of Apostroph Germany GmbH.
